Arc Flash

The Implementation of standards includes determination of arc fault levels and associated limited approach, restricted approach, prohibited approach, and flash protection boundaries associated with energized electrical equipment operating above 150 volts to ground. Arc fault levels and the associated boundaries varied according to the short circuit currents available at various points throughout the electrical distribution system, and the level or absence of protective clothing worn by maintenance personnel and general occupants of the building.

We have selected the listed projects that best describe DSD’s extensive experience in working with Arc Flash and the campus environment. With each project there are several buildings listed as part of the main project. The Research and Engineering Center project particularly included approximately 50 buildings and are situated in a campus environment. Each building is unique in its design but they are all interrelated to the power infrastructure of the campus. Studies were required to determine potential Arc Flash exposure, develop the necessary warning labels, and define maintenance practices for the facilities. The project sizes ranged from 3,000 SF to 3.5 million SF.
